A UN Mil Mi-17 transport helicopter has crashed in Nepal killing all 12 on board, including a high-ranking South Korean army officer, it was revealed on 4 March. The civilian helicopter, part of the UN Mission In Nepal, was flying to Kathmandu when it came down in bad weather approximately 65 km east of the capital on 3 March. The Russian-crewed Mi-17 was part of the UN contingent in Nepal monitoring a ceasefire between the Nepalese government and Maoist insurgents.
