The Australian Department of Defence (DoD) has cancelled its AUD1 billion (USD928 million) contract to procure SH-2G(A) Super Seasprite helicopters for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), Defence Minister Joel Fitzgibbon announced on 5 March. The DoD and the manufacturer of the helicopter, US company Kaman, have commenced negotiations over a contract settlement, spokespersons from both sides confirmed to Jane's, adding that they expect an agreement to be reached soon.
