France-based advanced cooled infrared detector manufacturer Sofradir has said that the company does not have the global market share it deserves and that a merger with its European counterparts would make them "number one" globally. Speaking to Jane's on 16 June during Eurosatory 2008 in Paris, Sofradir Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Philippe Ben-sussan said that the company currently holds a market share of between 15 per cent and 20 per cent, compared to the United States' 60 per cent share. "We do not have the market share we deserve. US customers like our technology. We are paving the way for others and faster than the others," he said, highlighting the company's product "produceability" as key. "The technology we have developed in France has been produceable. We didn't care about a fantastic performance if it wasn't produce-able," he added.
