Having been selected by the UK Ministry of Defence as the preferred bidder for the Future Rapid Effect System (FRES) Utility Vehicle (UV) requirement with the Piranha V (8 x 8) vehicle, General Dynamics UK is now aiming at the second high-priority requirement for FRES Scout. The current reconnaissance vehicle of the British Army is the Scimitar member of the Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance (Tracked) family of armoured vehicles that entered service with the British Army in 1974.
