Australia's leading defence industry body has expressed concern about the growing number of Australian defence companies being acquired by larger Western primes, arguing that the trend will result in the domestic industrial base producing fewer innovative military capabilities. Speaking to Jane's on 24 June, Mike Turner, the national president of the Australian Industry and Defence Network (AIDN) - an organisation based in Victoria that represents Australian defence industries, particularly small and medium enterprises (SMEs) - said he believes the trend could have serious consequences for Australian industries.
