UK countermeasures and energetics group Chemring has made a conditional agreement to acquire US pyrotechnic device specialist Martin Electronics Inc (MEI), helping to close the "gaps" in Chemring's United States acquisition strategy. Chemring announced on 24 June that it had agreed to buy MEI, a maker of close-combat products including training grenade fuzes, pyrotechnics and specialist 40 mm ammunition, for USD70 million in cash. MEI's customers include the US military, prime contractors and overseas governments, including Australia.
