As the conflict between Georgia and Russia escalated on the ground, the Georgian government fell victim to an increasingly common feature of modern warfare: the concerted cyber attack. The Georgian presidential and other government websites were brought down by distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attacks from 8 to 12 August, with Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) communications also affected.
