The US Army and Marine Corps are looking for a new lightweight vehicle that offers similar levels of protection to a mine-resistant ambushed-pro-tected (MRAP) vehicle but in a package that can be air lifted in a C-130 Hercules transport. Notice of the requirement came to light in a Request for Information (Rfl) posted by the US Army Materiel Command on 21 August, spelling out an ambitious set of requirements for mobility and protection. In essence, the new vehicle should have the manoeuvrability, cross-country mobility and road manners of a Humvee with substantial protection against mines and improvised explosive devices.
