Malaysia is dispatching three navy vessels along with commandos to the Gull of Aden following the August hijacking of two Malaysian vessels along with their crews off the coast of Somalia. Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Datuk Sen Najib Tun Razak said the Malaysian government initially dispatched the Jebat-classs frigate KD Lekiu and the Newport-class landing ship - tank KB Sri Inderapum, but decided to add the Kedah-class offshore patrol vessel KD Pahangio the task group to protect five ships belonging to Malaysian shipping company M(SC as they pass through the Gulf of Aden.
