Finmeccanica hopes to generate between EUR600 million (USD880 million) and EUR800 million from the flotation of its Ansaldo Ener-gia unit as part of the broader drive to finance its acquisition of US company DRS Technologies, Jane's learned on 2 September. In addition to this, the group is looking to generate a capital increase of EUR 1.4 billion and raise bonds totalling EUR 1 billion on the US market. Following news of the completion of the US Hart-Scott-Rodino review of the proposed acquisition - one of the conditions for the finalisation of the merger - on 28 August, Jane's understands that Finmeccanica intends to list Ansaldo Energia, a producer of thermo-electric powerplants, on the Italian stock exchange.
