The Australian Defence Force (ADF) has signed contracts worth nearly AUD1 billion (USD669 million) for G-Wagon all-terrain vehicles, Bushmaster infantry mobility vehicles and upgraded M113 armoured personnel carriers (APCs). Announcing the orders on 29 October, Defence Minister Joel Fitzgibbon also disclosed that Australia would participate in the technology demonstration phase of the US Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) programme, which is expected to see the replacement of more than 60,000 vehicles in service with the US Army and US Marine Corps from 2012 onwards.
