Argentine Defence Minister Nilda Garre has announced the launch of a multi-year funding programme designed to restore and enhance the operational capabilities of the Argentine armed forces.rnSpeaking at the opening of the 8th Defence Research and Production Symposium (SINPRODE 2007), held in Buenos Aires at the end of September, Garre said thernprogramme would cover the period from 2008 to 2013.rnFollowing a USD 100 million special increase allocated in Fiscal Year 2007, sources in Buenos Aires told Jane's that the funding programme could bring an additional allocation of around USD200 million each year for equipment acquisitions and modernisation.
