Sweden and Thailand have begun talks over the offset arrangements tied to the Southeast Asian country's purchase of 12 JAS 39 Gripen multirole combat aircraft.rnState-owned Thai Aviation Industries (TAI) is expected to benefit from the negotiations.rnSaab announced a USD 1.1 billion deal with Thailand last month, that will see the aircraft delivered in two phases.rnThe first phase, worth USD600 million, will cover the acquisition of six Gripen aircraft, including spares and training, and one Eri-eye Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft within a five-year budgetary commitment from 2008-12.
