The governments of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Rwanda have reached an agreement under which the DRC will 'forcibly disarm' Rwandan guerrillas based in the eastern DRC. The guerrillas are mainly members of the Interahamwe militia that perpetrated the attempted genocide in Rwanda, along with members of the former Rwandan army. They have been conducting sporadic raids into Rwanda since fleeing the country in 1994.
