The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has signed a contract covering the purchase of 10 Sikorsky S-70A Black Hawk helicopters, the company announced on 12 November at the Dubai Air Show. These helicopters will be operated by the UAE Air Force in support of the country's armed forces as the army currently does not have an air arm. The procurement follows a US Defence Security Co-operation Agency (DSCA) notification to the US Congress of a possible sale of Black Hawk helicopters to the UAE in July 2006.
