The UK Royal Air Force (RAF) announced on 8 November that its first MQ-9 Reaper unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is now in service and flying operations in Afghanistan. The official in-service date for the Reaper, operated by 39 Squadron RAF, was 31 October and an RAF spokesperson told Jane's it "flew its first operational flight in October 2007".
