Looking at the US 2006 Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR) and its vision for the future of the US Department of Defense (DoD), a number of observers have pointed out that it does not prescribe much in the way of radical new approaches. In fact, the QDR itself states that it is in no way a 'new beginning', but rather the continuation of the DoD's ongoing transformation, five years into what some are now calling the 'Long War' on terrorism.
