The ability to conduct network-cen-tric warfare (NCW) is central to the transformation of US Forces, intended to bring the developments of the Information Age to military operations by providing universal interoperability, speed in information flows and enabling the sharing of information at all levels. NCW is usually illustrated with a scenario at the tactical level - that is, the linking of a sensor in one platform, be it satellite, unmanned aerial vehicle (U AV), manned aircraft or ship, with the means to deliver kinetic energy onto a target -the shooter-mounted on another platform. This may also be a UAV, manned aircraft, ship or ground platform, though not (yet) a satellite.
