Atkins Aviation & Defence Systems, acting on behalf of the UK Defence Procurement Agency's Future Rapid Effects System Integrated Product Team (FRES IPT), has received replies to an invitation to tender (ITT) issued late last year to two contractors, BAE Systems Land Systems and Insys,for the FRES electric armour Technology Demonstrator Programme (TDP). Atkins Aviation & Defence Systems was awarded the two-year initial assessment phase contract for FRES in December 2004, beating rival bids from EDS and QinetiQ.
