A US Congressional committee is investigating whether the contract between the US Army and Boeing to develop the Future Combat Systems (FCS) programme contains adequate safeguards against corruption and abuse. The Senate Armed Services Committee's Airland subcommittee, chaired by senator John McCain, held a hearing on 17 March to discuss the contract. McCain is the influential senator who spearheaded congressional investigations into improprieties between Boeing and the US Air Force over the lease of 767 tankers.
