Clear indications have emerged on the status of China's Z-10 combat helicopter, a project that has been running for years but with few public details. It is believed the new helicopter has been undergoing test-flights for more than two years but there have been few images of the aircraft and little hard evidence of the programme. Within China, the Z-10 remains one of the most highly classified efforts, more secretive than the J-10 advanced fighter project or many other major development programmes. While industry sources in China acknowledge the existence of the J-10, any comment on the Z-10 is flatly refused.
