Legislation on the reform of the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI), introduced in August 2000 and enacted as Law 34 in October 2004, clarifies the respective roles of the armed forces and the Ministry of Defence (MoD), including a provision that shifts control over military procurement from the service chiefs to the civilian MoD.
