Avision,bydefmition,issomething almost unreachable. A well thought-through strategy for development of future capabilities has been, and will be, the way ahead. The essence of air power is its speed, reach and height. These will still be valid in the future and, based on the different conflicts around the world over the past 10 to 15 years, will perhaps be even more essential in a changing world. The European air chiefs have stated that "air power is the efficient military answer to the needs of a changing world". A rapid reaction capability based on mobility, inherent flexibility and versatility, together with constant mission readiness, are factors that contribute to both political and military goals. New threats, mainly asymmetric, put the demand for usability and accessibility even more in focus than previously. The global terrorist attacks that we've seen have resulted in more accentuated demands for speed and firmness with greater flexibility.
