The US Air Force (USAF) plans to install a series of information-sharing devices on its fighter and ground-attack aircraft before the end of the decade to tie them into battlefield networks, according to service officials. The upgrades will give the platforms, such as the A-10 Thunderbolt II, F-15 Eagle and Strike Eagle and F-16 Fighting Falcon, the ability to share text information and imagery with other airborne platforms and ground sites so that they can attack targets more accurately and quickly, the officials said. In many cases, it will be the first time these aircraft receive such equipment.
