French Defence Minister Michele Alliot-Marie is expected to give the French government's blessing to a milestone alliance between warship builder Direction des Constructions Navales (DCN) and the naval business of the French military electronics giant Thales. DCN and Thales Naval had been thought ready to announce their engagement at Euronaval but the two appear to have fallen victim to last-minute nerves. A report in the Paris business daily Les Echos on 18 October stated that negotiations between the two had hit serious snags and that the romance wasn't ready to be consummated.
