Rheinmetall Landsys-teme (RLS) has released full details of its new Light Infantry Vehicle (LIV), developed at its Kassel facility in association with the Binz company and Daimler-Chrysler to meet the German Army's operational needs (Jane's Defence Weekly 16 April). The initial contract covers the supply of eight vehicles. Of the four delivered, two are being used by the army in Afghanistan for extensive user trials.
