Helicopter manufacturer Sikorsky has teamed with high-speed vessel designers Harley Shipbuilding and Vibtech to pitch a concept of pairing new heavylift rotorcraft with shallow-draft, high-speed sealift as an option for overcoming anti-access measures and difficulties with obtaining port access. The companies have formed an informal partnership to propose the idea to US Department of Defense (DoD) officials, particularly for meeting US Army requirements for quick deployments.
