Following recommendations from the Russian Ministry of Defence and the Russian Aircraft Corporation MiG (RSK MIG), the Indian Air Force (IAF) is believed to be considering adding stealth modifications to the programme that will see its MiG-21bis (NATO reporting name: 'Fishbed-L') fighters upgraded to MiG-21-93 standard. The proposals were made after trials 18 months ago at the Sokol aircraft plant in Nizhniy Novgorod, during which Russian stealth capabilities were showcased to Indian defence ministry officials.
