The UK's state-owned research company QinetiQ has been selected to provide a revolutionary integrated flight and propulsion control system (IFPCS) for the Lockheed Martin F-35B, the short take-off and vertical landing (STOVL) variant of the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF). In addition to reducing pilot workload, this technology could eventually lead to a fully automatic carrier landing capability for launch F-35B operators the US Marine Corps and the UK's Royal Air Force and Royal Navy (RN).
