The Netherlands should commit to participating in the development of the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) without delay, two senior advisory bodies have recommended. According to the Netherlands Institute for Aerospace Development (NIVR), joining the JSF engineering and manufacturing development (EMD) programme would offer greater economic and industrial benefits than becoming a partner in the competing Eurofighter or Dassault Rafale programmes. Investment costs and technical risks would also be lower, the institute said in a classified report to the Ministry of Economic Affairs in The Hague.
