Abae Systems North America-led project' to field an Autonomous Landing Guidance (ALG) is nearing series production, according to programme officials.rnThe system uses active millimetre wave (MMW) radar technology developed for the Alenia Marconi Systems (AMS) Brimstone air-launched anti-armour weapon The ALG provides aircrew withrnan independent capability to land, taxi and take off in zero visibility/ zero ceiling conditions by generating real-time radar imagery on a head-up display supplied by B AE Systems Avionics of Rochester, UK. The system is expected to enter service in 2004.
