The Australian Army's plans to introduce a mobile indirect-fire weapon system has moved a step forward with the decision to adopt a wheeled platform for the 120mm LightArmoured Mortar System (LAMS). As endorsed by last year's Defence White Paper, 20 LAMS will be acquired to enter service from 2006 under Project Land 135.
