The UK armed forces this month will receive the first of some 200,000 5.56mm SA80 assault rifles modified by Heckler & Koch (H&K), a subsidiary of BAE Systems, RO Defence.rnThe £92 million ($131 million) modification project aims to improve weapon performance, particularly during extreme climatic conditions such as those experienced during the 1990-91 Gulf War and in Arctic training in Norway.
