A shrinking field of US companies is vying to grab Lockheed Martin's Sanders aerospace electronics division as the defence giant prepares to dump the $1 billion-a-year business as part of restructuring plans announced late last year. Numerous US and foreign firms expressed interest in purchasing the Sanders unit following Lockheed Martin's announcement last October that it was reviewing the division for possible divestiture, but sources indicate that venture capital firm Carlyle Group and Northrop Grumman are the most likely buyers.
