The US Air Force (USAF) released more munitions over Afghanistan during the first eight months of 2018 than during the whole of the previous year, according to US Air Forces Central Command (AFCENT). Recently released AFCENT data shows that 4,429 munitions were dropped in the Central Asian country between January and August as part of Operation 'Freedom's Sentinel' and the NATO-led 'Resolute Support' mission: 68 more than in all of 2017.
