The Indian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has pointed to gains being made in encouraging the country's state-owned defence industry to apply for intellectual property (IP) rights to protect local innovation and technologies. In comments to parliament on 4 February Minister of State for Defence Subhash Bhamre said local industry had filed 304 IP applications with local authorities in the seven months to December 2018. He did not provide a comparative figure.
