The Malaysian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has confirmed plans to introduce its first defence White Paper later this year. The MoD said in a statement in late January that it is developing the policy, which is expected to be published by August, with the aim to "strengthen the defence and security of the country". Malaysian Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu said the White Paper will provide defence guidelines for the next decade and be subject to regular updates depending on the country's security situation. He added that the policy will also take into account Malaysia's fiscal position, put emphasis on international collaboration, and outline the role that Malaysia's defence industry should take in supporting national security.
