Romania will acquire five more F-16A/B combat aircraft from Portugal in addition to the 12 F-16AM/BM jet fighters now in service with the Romanian Air Force (RoAF), Defence Minister Gabriel Leş told a press conference in Bucharest on 19 April. He said that all the required documentation had already been handed over to Portugal and that the agreement on acquiring the five fighter jets would be signed later this year or in early 2020.
