The value of bilateral defence trade between the United States and India is on track to reach USD18 billion later this year, according to Ellen Lord, US Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment. Lord said in a Pentagon press briefing on 18 October that the strong growth in defence trade is a reflection of a deepening military and strategic partnership between the two countries. About 10 years ago the value of defence trade between the US and India was negligible, she said.
