The UK parliament's defence committee has warned against retiring the Royal Navy's Albion-class landing platform dock (LPD) ships, saying it could spell out the "sunset of the Royal Marines". In a report of the same name published on 4 February, the Commons Defence Committee (CDC) said further reductions in the UK Royal Marines and the early retirement of HMS Albion and HMS Bulwark would mean the United Kingdom would lose its amphibious capabilities.
