The US Army has finished evaluating Robotic Combat Vehicle light and medium (RCV-L and RCV-M) proposals and has selected QinetiQ North America (QNA) and Textron Systems to address those requirements. The service announced on 9 January that it will award QNA a contract to build four RCV-Ls and Textron a separate contract to build four RCV-Ms. "These RCVs will be used as part of the Army's Robotic Campaign of Learning that seeks to determine the feasibility of integrating unmanned vehicles into ground combat operations," the army wrote. The service noted that both variants will be used during a company-level experiment at the end of 2021. Service leaders will use these findings, along with those gleaned from a platoonlevel experiment in March and several virtual experiments, to decide how to proceed with RCVs in the 2023 timeframe, the army added.
