The Slovak Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced on 2 February that it would undertake a study to examine the feasibility of bids submitted by the Swedish and US governments, both of which are offering new fighter aircraft to replace obsolete Russian-made MiG-29s currently in service with the Slovak armed forces.The MoD said it would submit the results of the detailed feasi-bility-of-procurement study to the Slovak coalition government by 29 June for the Saab JAS 39 Gripen and the Lockheed Martin F-16V Block 70/72.
