The Egyptian Air Force (EAF) can now carry out 'buddy' aerial refueling of its Russian and French combat aircraft, significantly extending their operational radius, a video released by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) on 13 January revealed. The video showed two MiG-29Ms each equipped with a centreline PAZ-MK refuelling pod and four large PTB-1150 underwing tanks preparing to offload fuel to two Dassault Rafales. The pod, which contains the basket, hose, and winch, taps into the aircraft's fuel supply, which includes both internal and external tanks, offloading fuel at a rate of up to 750 litres per minute, according to manufacturer Zvezda-NPP.
