An investigation into all Saudi nationals undergoing military training in the United States in the wake of the shooting at Pensacola Naval Air Station on 6 December has resulted in 21 being sent home, Attorney General William Barr announced on 13 January. Lieutenant Mohammed Saeed Alshamrani, a Royal Saudi Air Force officer, killed three people and was then killed himself during the shooting at the base in Florida. "While there was no evidence of assistance or pre-knowledge of the attack by other members of the Saudi military or any other foreign nationals who are training in the United States, we did learn of derogatory material possessed by 21 members of the Saudi military who are training in the United States," Barr told journalists.
