The Swiss parliament approved on 20 December the government and Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport's (VBS's) Air 2030 proposal to invest up to CHF6 billion (USD6.2 billion) to replace the Swiss Air Force's F/A-18C/D and F-5E fighters starting in 2025 and CHF2 billion on ground-based air defence (GBAD).
