Polish Minister of National Defence Mariusz Btaszczak signed a contract on 22 July with Zaktady Mechanic-zne Bumar - tabedy in Gliwice on the upgrade of Polish T-72 tanks. The minister said the tanks will be equipped with modern sights, navigation, and observation equipment, as well as digital communications. The contract is worth PLN1.75 billion (USD460 million) and the upgrade will be conducted from 2019-25, according to the Polish Ministry of National Defence (MND), which told Jane's on 23 July that more than 300 tanks would be upgraded.
