The US Department of Defense is seeking billions of dollars from Congress to cover costs its contractors have incurred from the Covid-19 pandemic, according to a Pentagon official. Although lawmakers have already authorised the DoD to reimburse contractors that use paid leave, including sick leave, to sustain employees who cannot work because of Covid-19 facility closures, Congress has yet to provide the funding for such reimbursements, said Ellen Lord, under secretary of defence for acquisition and sustainment.
