Officials from South Korea's Ministry of National Defense (MND) have revealed that the country is set to complete development of a supersonic ship-launched anti-ship cruise missile system "in the near future" and that the country is planning to develop an air-launched variant of the weapon that can be deployed from the Republic of Korea Air Force's (RoKAF's) future KF-X fighter aircraft. Speaking on condition of anonymity due to the classified nature of the programme, the officials told Jane's in late March that the country's Agency for Defense Development (ADD) had been in charge of the development, with the system expected to be capable of targeting larger ships, such as those in an enemy carrier group.
