A critical US Government Accountability Office (GAO) report on the US Air Force's (USAF's) Advanced Battle Management System (ABMS) internet-of-things (IoT) combat concept demonstrates that the service is unsure about what it wants to do with the system, according to a pair of experts. Todd Harrison, director of the aerospace security project and defence budget analysis division at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) think tank in Washington, DC, told Jane's on 20 April, "Whenever a Department of Defense programme starts talking about a 'family of systems' approach, it is usually a good indicator that they have not yet figured out what they need."
