The Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has received the first upgraded 2S7M Malka 203 mm heavy self-propelled gun (SPG) from Rostec's Uralvagonzavod (UVZ), a UVZ spokesperson told Jane's on 16 April. He said the artillery system had received new running gear and electronics. The upgrade also includes a new intercom, radio, gearbox, drive train, and power supply subsystems, as well as updated observation devices. The modernised Malka has already completed its mobility and firing trails. The upgraded SPG retains the 2A44 203 mm long-range heavy gun of the baseline artillery system.
